Every Child Ministries Leading the Way in Fighting Modern Day Slavery, Child Slavery, & Promoting the Abolition of Ritual Servitude amongst children

Fight Child Slavery!

Here's what you can do to fight modern day slavery & child slavery in Africa:

1.  Pray! This is above all a spiritual battle.  The chains of slavery will be broken only with the serious and sustained prayers of God's people. Look at a list of serious prayer points.

Your gift to Every Child Ministries can help fight child slavery and free shrine slaves2.  GiveEvery Child Ministries is liberating modern-day slaves while also helping to BREAK THE CYCLE and end some forms of slavery.  Our average cost is $200 per slave "family" or $40 per person.  Just designate your gift for the slave project.  Every gift of every size helps in the battle.  Give Now.

3.  Write letters!  Write to officials and others in positions of influence.  Ask them to use all the powers to help end slavery.  Send an e-mail to Ghanaian officials at the e-addresses below.  And don't let accept an easy answer.  If they say "We don't have slavery," that's because they have a technical term for it in Ghana.  They call it trokosi or fiashidi.  If they tell you there's no problem because it's against the law in Ghana, tell them you realize that, but why is ritual servitude still being practiced?

5.  Keep informed.  Keep yourself knowledgeable and up-to-date.  Order ECM's DVD on Slavery & "Answers on Slavery" booklet (Suggested minimum donation: $10.  Check out this and other internet sites on the subject often.

Take action against child slavery now. Speak up against ritual servitude at every opportunity6.  Write to the powers that be.  Ask them to support efforts to free shrine slaves.

Suggested points to make (one or more, in any order), politely and in your own words:

  • You have heard about the problem of modern-day slavery called trokosi or ritual servitude and you are shocked.
  • You are praying that slavery will be ended all over the world.
  • Urge the person to use all his or her powers to end the practice of ritual servitude because of its detrimental effects on both women and children.
  • Ask them to do anything they can to ensure that the existing law against ritual servitude begins to be enforced.
  • Include any personal message or feelings you may have as a result of what you have read, but do not be insulting.
  • Assure the person that you are praying for him or her (and do so).
  • Thank them for their time.
  • Sign your name and address.
