Short-Term Mission Opportunities Available:

Opportunities for Africans who are fluent in English (or English-speakers who are fluent in an African language)
If you are fluent in an African Language and also in English, ECM has opportunities for you to help your own people on a volunteer (unpaid) basis by translating Christian literature, teaching and training materials into your native language.  
This opportunity is also open to retired missionaries who desire to make a continuing contribution to the people they served.

Short-Term Mission Opportunities in Ghana:

  • Children's Workers, Orphanage Workers
    American helpers with the children at Haven of HopeFlexible opportunities at Haven of Hope to interact with children--teach them, play with them, love them, work with them in sports & games, art, music, crafts, gardening, or other activities.  August and December best, but flexibility exists.

 

 

  • Evangelistic Teams using Music, Dance, Drama, Puppets, or Sports
    Bambi Carlson dancing a routine she developed with African womenOpportunities in urban areas and in village settings where traditional (idolatrous) worship dominates.  ECM accepts teams already having a ministry in these areas.  /Constant need.  Timing flexible.
  • Certified Elementary Teachers
    Elementary teachers can make an immense contribution by volunteering one or two or more years of service at Haven of Hope orphanage.  Working alongside Ghanaian teachers, you will grow as a teacher by being exposed to another educational system and the school will be strengthened as you exercise some of the strengths of your own training. 
  • Street Ministry
    Work alongside experienced ECM street workers to visit street children, record their stories, offer counsel, and develop discipleship teaching for converts.  Timing flexible.  
     
  • Teacher Trainers
    Those who have experience training teachers in the local church or CEF are very much needed to train African teachers in a seminar setting. 

 



 

Short-Term Mission Trips Opportunities in Uganda:

  • Leanne McKitrick reviews the alphabet with unschooled childrenUganda Team every other June/July--After 3 days of orientation and training, spend a week ministering to children crowded together in the abysmal conditions of the slums of Kampala.  Then travel to the north and spend another week ministering to children in one of the most neglected IDP camps to children whose lives have been devastated by war.  The group will plan and carry out several activities designed to capture their interest, introduce the Gospel, and enhance their education.  Three weeks in June/July every year, Immediately after Christmas some years for 10 days.

Short-Term Mission Trip Opportunities in Democratic Republic of Congo:

  • Teacher Trainers (French, Lingala, Tshiluba, Kituba or Swahili necessary)
    One week to one month opportunities to train African Bible teachers for children and youth, urban and rural settings and to assist with ministry to street youth. 
  • Orphan workers (French or Kituba speakers) 
    2-4 week
     opportunity to assist in enhancing the development of an orphan program in Kikwit.  You will help get and write the children's stories, take pictures for sponsorship, teach Bible classes, teach them a little English and assist with supplemental feedings.  You can use skills like music, dance, puppets, games or sports to enhance these programs.  Constant need.  Timing flexible.
