Tawnee Martin in Ghana 

Assessing and teaching at Haven Academy

Tawnee Martin has just arrived in Ghana this April, 2010 to begin her 1-year term at Haven Academy.  She will be living with Dana Neevel, who has been serving at Haven Academy for almost a year now. 

Tawnee and Dana are excited to begin a new specialized tutoring program for some of the older students at Haven Academy.  These students have never been in school prior to coming to Haven of Hope and had to be placed in lower grades with much younger children.  So the goal is to give them extra attention in the hopes they can accelerate their advancement.  Tawnee specialized in working with children with Autism in the States, which while this is a different situation should still lend her some great experience to draw from as they get started.  Intial reports from this program are all good, they say the children are eager to learn and that the smaller class size and special attention seem to be doing wonders.  Please pray with us that they will see improvement quickly and that the students themselves would be encouraged to learn more.

Dana's original service agreement was set to end the beginning of this summer but she has felt God leading her to stay on longer.  She will be coming home for a visit so please pray for Tawnee as she is remains at Haven of Hope without her roommate and friend.  We are grateful to Tawnee and Dana for their hard work and love for the children.
