Sharon Aldrich
from Crown Point, IN (recently moved to FL)
October-November 2006, Uganda
Sharon Aldrich has taught Home Economics for many years at Crown Point High School. She also wrote materials on nutrition for Every Child Ministries which were published in Congo and included in ECM's Teacher Training Manual, "Teaching the Next Generation." Sharon has previously served on two mission teams to Guatemala. She is excited to be a part of the teacher training team going to Uganda, as well as part of investigating possible ministry opportunities in the Gulu area that has been so devastated by war and by forced conscription of child soldiers in the guerilla LRA group. Sharon says, "God has taken my husband and I on a wild and wonderful ride so far, and He is not done with us yet. I go to Africa to obey God's word to do whatever I can to bring others to Him."

Ruth Alexander

Ruth is a registered nurse and has worked for many years with the youth groups at Hillside Community Church. She loves working with children and has made a previous ministry trip to Russia. Ruth served in Ghana three weeks participating in the "Character Building from the Bible" ministry for schools and enjoying close interaction with the Haven of Hope orphanage kids on weekends.

Micky (Michelle) Beaujean
from Winterville, NC
June 2006, Ghana
Micky works in Program Administration. She has completed a Master's in Social Work and has previously gone on three other mission trips--one to Haiti and two to Nicaragua. She has completed two years of semi-formal Bible study through Bible Study Fellowship Int'l, taught Sunday school and led single's activities in her local church, Unity Freewill Baptist. Micky is interested in working with children and helping them rise above adversity. She will be checking out several aspects of ECM's work in Ghana with an eye to future long term service.

Cheryl Bockstahler

Cheryl was a real blessing to ECM's Ghana ministries in 2005, and again in 2006 as team leader. We were so pleased to welcome Cheryl back again this year to work with the "Character Building from the Bible" program for schools and to continue helping the lower elementary teachers at Haven Academy develop their skills in teaching beginning literacy. As a teacher with 16 years experience and a deep love for children, Cheryl contributes much in equipping Haven Academy teachers to become the best teachers they can be. Cheryl also truly loves the street ministry and enjoyed participating again on weekends. She plans to serve again in 2007.

Jere & Ruth Ann Gowin
from Merrillville, IN
June 2006, Ghana
Jere currently serves as pastor of Merrillville Wesleyan Church and teaches math at Crown Point Christian school. He and his wife Ruth Ann have also served as missionaries to the Cayman Islands. They have four children--three grown and one entering college. Jere received his teacher's training at Southern Illinois University and also attended Missouri Southern State College, Ozark Bible College, Southwest Baptist University, and Indiana Wesleyan University. He was led to Christ during his college days by the radio preacher John R. Rice.
The Gowins are seriously considering career missionary service with ECM. Jere will travel to Ghana this summer seeking to confirm that calling and determine which ministries they will pursue. The Gowins come highly recommended and we are excited at the prospect of having them on the ECM team.

Hazel Hermosillo
from Chelsea, MI

Hazel has had much experience teaching children, directing children's church at Immanuel Bible Church in Chelsea MI for many years. She and her husband served a one year term in South America as temporary directors of a children's home, enabling the missionary director to visit home. Hazel will be helping to train children's Bible teachers in Uganda, both in Kampala, the capitol city, and in the northern Gulu area, where children's lives have been devastated by war.

Leanne Kaufman
from Northwood, OH

Leanne Kaufman is a Kindergarten teacher at a Christian school and a drama/music leader for the children's ministry at Main Street United Brethren Church. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Westminster College and a M.A. in Literacy Education from Walden University. She loves teaching and has had a passion for West Africa since she was a child. Leanne participated in the "Character Building from the Bible" program, then work with the children at Haven of Hope. She served for six weeks in Ghana in 2006 and plans to return in 2007.

Elaine has served in the U.S. Navy, as a Deputy Sheriff in CA, and presently as a police officer in Merrillville, IN. She studied criminal justice at Park University and has volunteered with prison ministries at Westville Correctional Facitlity in IN. Elaine served as a children's worker at Haven of Hope.

Debe just completed her junior year at Regent University, where she majors in Religious Studies. She also has trained in photography. Debe has served as a Bible study leader and a camp counselor with underprivileged and abused children. She will served ten weeks in Ghana, photographing the "Character Building from the Bible" program for schools and working with the children at Haven of Hope.

Joel is a youth pastor at Cornerstone Community Church. He has also worked in Bible camps, retreats, and a Christian school. He will be in Ghana for two weeks and is exploring the possibility of longer term ministry.
