Elijah lives with his mother, younger brother and sister in the Katwe slums, in a ramshackle little one room house. His mother has no source of income, except sweeping what extra beans she can from the market, and selling them so that they can get a little to eat. Unfortunately, Elijah's father abandoned the family. Elijah looks very miserable and hopeless most of the time, based on the observation of our staff in Uganda. Elijah really wants to go to school but the family has no money to pay his school fees. Elijah dreams of being a doctor one day.
