Martha lives with her father and stepmother in a small, rented house. They are Catholic. Sadly, her mother abandoned her when she was born, because she was born with albinism. The paternal grandmother took care of Martha for a year, and then her father re-married and took her in to live with them. They raise a small farm and sell some of the bananas and rice. Unfortunately it barely brings in enough for them to live on, and not enough to send Martha to school, or get the necessary items to protect her skin, like sun lotion, hat, sunglasses, etc. She currently has one sponsor supporting her to go to school, but needs one more to fully cover all her needs.
